Reflections

Yet another year has gone by, and a new year has dawned. It’s the time of year where we all tend to do a bit of reflection. And no matter how much you like to think you don’t. You do. You have at least given it some thought or have been asked about it. That is setting aside the laundry list of resolutions! That quite never take off!
To be honest, you can’t really tell what you want this year from yourself or life, if you don’t reflect on what has happened during the previous one. For me to begin to write all what I think I want to happen…is going to take more than a limited amount of words.

Only because so much has happened, and much more remain a nebulous mystery. It’s complicated! And I am still trying to navigate myself through it all. Trying to find clarity and meaningfulness can become a mission once in a while. Tell me about it!

“Where you are right now, God circled on a map for you”, someone once told me.
Of course, we’ve all got pieces to pick up. Places to start all over again. Obligations that have to be met. Duties to be fulfilled. Promises to kept sacred. Happiness to be found and joys to be re-lived.
This is my story. It could be yours too. Let’s call it OUR story. And let’s start a brand new chapter. Now, here and today. As we begin to peel the layers, growing more mature into ourselves and understanding the gravity of the reality as it is – we begin to understand more about ourselves and what life should be all about.
Last year, to me, had a series of soaring highs and very depressing lows. All of which I shall re-live if I had the chance. Right now. Only because I am not who I am now, without my yesterdays.

However, as the New Year dawns, in order to move on, we need to practice what I call detachment. Detachment from the physical reality of an existence we’ve lived last year. Because if you don’t, you’d still be clinging on to the past, and holding all that energy within you, positive or negative. A stumbling block it can become sometimes.
That is what reflections are all about. Understanding your own unique personal experience, and learning from it. Because if you don’t, it’s going to come back for you again. Until you do learn the lesson needed, life is simply a series of experiences. Each one of them growing stronger in intensity and gravity than the previous one. We are spiritual beings going through human experiences. Is how it’s put in words? So after each one, good or bad, ask yourself what needs to be learnt from it. And make it a point to find out, even at the most toughest of times.
So what have you learned so far? I know it can be extremely hard to put in words. But when you do know it, just know you’ve taken a giant leap to wholeness. And that’s the beginning to coming full circle.

Of course, you won’t be able to achieve the entire task overnight and it may take you many years more to come. But know that you are whole, even now. You only need yourself to complete Y-O-U.
With this, know you are home. You are where you are meant to be. Take a step outside to the balcony of your life once in a while. Look back at the past and smile, reflect on the things that made you today, the present - the ground on which you are standing now and the future which is yet to reveal itself.
And smile…. Life is calling out to you. Go grab it with open arms, you never know what’s in store!
