probe into Muttur slaying

The Presidential Commission of inquiry to investigate and
inquire into serious violations of human rights has commenced
investigations into the slaying of the 17 aid workers in Muttur,
who were attached to the Action Against Hunger.
All police officers including the Magistrate who conducted the
Magisterial inquiry into the deaths of the persons were summoned
by the commission and recorded their statements.
Chairman of the commission, Justice N. K. Udalagama told The
Nation that the commission has established a witness protection
unit and all the witnesses have made their appearance through
this unit to give evidence.
