JVP, UNP,SLFPM, in show of solidarity against Moragoda

By Jayashika Padmasiri
The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has decided to support the no confidence motion against Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda which was submitted to Parliament by the SLFP Mahajana Wing and the United National Party (UNP).
The JVP arrived at this decision on Friday during its weekly political bureau meeting.
Citing reasons for their decision to go against the Minister, the JVP noted that Moragoda has been identified in the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) report for misusing public money during the period 2001-2004, under the UNP government.
JVP MP Bimal Rathnayake told The Nation that though the JVP is in favour of the no confidence motion against Moragoda, they were also of the view that the UNP was submitting the no confidence motion against Moragoda purely because they have a personal vendetta against the Minister, who was a one time Ranil Wickremesinghe loyalist.
He also charged that the UNP will act differently towards Moragoda tomorrow, if he decides to join the party again, by turning a blind eye to his crimes.
