TMVP member shot dead in Batti

By Lakna Paranamanna
A Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) member was shot dead yesterday by an unknown gunman at around 6:10 p.m. The incident had taken place at Maalampaawali, three kilometres from Batticaloa.

The victim was Nidharshan, a 19-year-old. He had been taking part in election campaign work for the upcoming provincial elections when he was killed.

TMVP Spokesperson Azad Mowlana told The Nation said that they suspect that the opposing political parties were behind this murder. “We have doubts about this murder. We suspect that this murder was an act by our political enemies,” said Mowlana.
