movement, dissident MP Jayantha Samaraweera said.

constitution and the basic structure necessary to create a new

have joined us and in the near future many JVP members who left

The party is open to all patriotic and progressive elements in
society and the party constitution will be devised to empower
members from the grassroots, Samaraweera revealed.
“Unlike the JVP, we will follow very democratic methods.
Officials will be elected through elections, even at the
grassroots level,” he added.
Meanwhile, reliable sources have revealed that the new political
movement is being financed by S.L. Gunesekara and several top
members of the Patriotic National Movement (PNM.) “The new party
is financed by several individuals including S.L. Gunesekara,” a
