President confident war will finish before year ends

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed his close confidantes that the war will be finished before the end of the year, and has stressed on the need for post-war rehabilitation.
The President has made this observation shortly after last week’s cabinet meeting at Temple Trees, a highly placed source said. The cabinet chaired by the President had discussed the electoral reforms placed before it last week. There had been no official discussion about the on going war.
However, the President had told his cabinet colleagues that he was optimistic that the war could be finished before the end of this year.
He has told them that there were plans to meet the donors who he has said, were interested in the post-war rehabilitation programme.
The President has informed his colleagues that from now on, post-war rehabilitation programmes should also be taken into consideration by the government.
