Aluth Sahal Mangallaya held at Maligawa

Ceremonies connected with ‘Aluth Sahal Mangallaya’ was held at the Sri Dalada Maligawa yesterday, Duruthu Poya Day, with the offering of 85 measures of rice to the Sacred Tooth Relic.

The ceremonies commenced with the distribution of rice from Pallekelle granaries on January 1 and the rice was distributed throughout the district among the Vihares and Devales at the auspicious time of 10:22 a.m. The main ceremony was held at the Sri Dalada Maligawa at the inner shrine room where the Maha Sangha officiated, along with Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Dela Bandara.

The offering was made by the Chief Officiating Nayaka Thera, Venerable Urulewatte Dharmaratne Thera and other members of the Sangha. The Kavikara Maduwa was in attendance.
