The pageant started from December 12 showcasing the real talents of the youth in the country according to the architect of the programme, the special project manager of Stream Media, Samanthika Kumarasinghe.

“We received a lot of entries from the Kandy district and most of the applicants were newcomers into this filed,” she added.

She further stated that the only condition which they had stipulated to enter this competition was the age limit and it was from 18 years to 28 years.
Kumarasinghe further emphasised that they chose 200 applicants from all the entries which they received and had a workshop for them on December 12.
“The workshop was conducted by Salon Moods under the guidance of choreographer and lecturer of the pageant, Samantha Gunasekera together with dress designer and beautician, Jonny Gunasekera,” she added.
The ‘Max Model of the Year 2010’ includes three categories such as ‘Miss. Body Beauty and Mr. Handsome’, ‘Best Catwalk and Walk’ along with Mr. and Miss. Photogenic’.

According to Kumarasinghe they are hoping to carry out another workshop in January for the next 100 participants who were chosen from the first round.
“At the workshop we are going to teach them in detail the guidelines for a model and afterwards we are hoping to choose 50 participants out of the 100. Then we plan to lessen the number up to 30 and looking forward in having a mini pageant with them,” she added.

A R Rahman Foundation releases Calendar 2010
This special 2010 calendar is produced by Worldlight, a subsidiary of Audio Media Education, in aid of the A R Rahman Foundation and features pictures of the musical genius A R Rahman.
The other significant feature of this desktop calendar is that it carries a number of thoughtful quotes from Rahman on universal themes such as Music, Language and Love.

The vision of the A R Rahman Foundation is to strive towards making poverty history.
As a first step towards achieving this vision, the foundation will set up educational institutions and provide world class, state-of-the-art infrastructure and education to underprivileged children who do not have the means to access and fund their education.

This will equip them with knowledge and skill sets to pursue specialised higher studies that will provide them career opportunities to build a secure future for themselves and their families.
The A R Rahman Foundation is presently providing free music education to 30 students from corporation schools in Chennai.

These students are being trained at the K M Music Conservatory by a world class faculty.
The Foundation aims to increase the intake of such students in the forthcoming years thereby extending the benefit of free music education to the truly deserving.
“At the Foundation, we know that there is no better investment than that in the education of children.” says Academy Award Winner A R Rahman.

Selva Kumar, a top-notch photographer in the entertainment domain and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Audio Media, has captured Rahman playing and enjoying music in a very interesting and unique way.
“A moment of giving is much greater than a moment of receiving. I am honoured to be associated with the A R Rahman Foundation. I believe each one of us should come forward and support this initiative.” says Selva Kumar Photographer and CEO, Audio Media Education India Private (Pvt) Limited (Ltd).

Yash Chopra raves about Rocket girl
Yash Chopra is more than proud to have chosen Gauhar Khan for ‘Rocket Singh-Salesman of the Year’.
The film is doing well at the box office and who has stolen the limelight? It is none other than Gauhar Khan, as she has been much-appreciated for her act by one and all, including critics. Keeping this in mind along with Gauhar’s praiseworthy acting, Yash Chopra personally congratulated Gauhar for the movie.

Gauhar says, “My pleasure knew no bounds as soon as Yash ji appreciated me after watching the film. He had good things to say about my role and for me this is a big moment. And what came as an icing on the cake was when Rishi and Neetu Kapoor too came around to congratulate me.”
Yash Chopra said to Gauhar, ‘You have done a good job in this film and you are very sincere in your work, so keep up the good work.’

Though, when asked if this appreciation has been translated into any further movie deal with Yash Raj Films (YRF), Gauhar denied telling, “Not as of now; however, I would love to do a film if they consider me again for an interesting role like I played in Rocket Singh.”

Gauhar plays a receptionist in (Harpreet Singh) Ranbir Kapoor’s company. Amusingly, her character was kept under wraps and was revealed only after the release and that is when she started interacting with the media. Though Gauhar is not confident, her deal with YRF might not come as a surprise. Lately YRF has been very keen to have movies deals with newcomers, like Anushka Sharma from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’.
