Parvathi seeks visa to Canada

By Tharindu Prematillake
Vallipuram Parvathi (80), mother of the deceased LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, is seeking a visa to move to Canada, according to former Jaffna District TNA Member of Parliament, M.K. Sivajilingam.
Sivajilingam explained that he had brought Parvathi from Velvettiturai to Colombo on March 2. “Early morning on March 6, I accompanied Mrs. Parvathi to Singapore and handed her over to some relatives. Thereafter, she had gone to Malaysia where Prabhakaran’s father’s relatives have been living for many years.

Her daughter in Canada is now trying to sponsor her and have her moved to Canada,” explained Sivajilingam.
According to Sivajilingam, Parvathi’s four children are former LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, Vinothini Rajendra who lives in Canada, Mano Karan who lives in Denmark and Jagadeshwari Madiparanam who lives in Chennai, India.
Sivajilingam said, “If Parvathi cannot obtain a visa to move to Canada and live with Vinothini she will go and live with her other daughter Jagadeshwari, in Chennai.”
Sivajilingam explained that Vinothini had given him power of attorney after the death of Prabhakaran’s father, Veerasamy Thiruvengadam Velupillai (86). “I took over Prabhakaran’s fathers remains on January 8, and handled most of the expenses incurred in the funeral.”
