Bribery Commmissioner Blows the Whistle

Retired Supreme Court Judge P. Edussuriya, who was a member of the Independent Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, which wound up in March, breaks his silence on the grave shortcomings they had to work with, which resulted in the Commission failing to live up to its expectations. The other members of the Commission were retired Supreme Court Judge Ameer Ismail (Chairman) and retired Inspector General of Police Indra de Silva.

Born on August 4, 1965 in the Bulathsinhala village of Kalutara District, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka is known for his nationalistic and ferocious approach throughout his political career, and as a student leader. Minister Ranawaka is an electrical engineer by profession but also reputed as an activist and a writer. Charge of the Lion Brigade was his latest book and released in 2009. Patisothigamiwa Tis (30) Wasak is the autobiography of the Minister. After successfully holding the portfolio of Environment and Natural Resources, Ranawaka is now tasked with reforming the power and energy sector which at present has become one of the most important development areas. He speaks about the downfalls and possibilities of tapping the full potential of the energy sector of the country.
