ETF Delegation visits Philippines

A delegation from the ETF Board visited several Social Security Organisations in the Philippines recently. The delegation was led by ETF Chairman – K. M. A. Sri Lanka Housewives Association parent body proudly presents the 23rd Annual Fund Raiser Home Makers Haven - A Coffee Morning with a difference.
An audience of 500 to 550 ladies will enjoy a varied interesting entertainment. It will be a fun filled morning with song and dance, a fashion show by Shobras and a hilarious skit, raffle entrance and souvenir draws and many more surprise draws.
Over 30 trade stalls will offer their products at a very special price. An air ticket will be on offer to Chennai.
To keep the show going popular showman Faizal and his band will perform to toe tapping music. Chandanas Troupe and Antonios Latino dancers will also perform to mesmerise the audience. There will also be a sing-a-long.
Part proceeds of this event will be donated to the Sri Lanka Cancer Society.

Immortal Hits Just For You

The Sinhala pop music band Chimes of the 70s presents Immortal Hits Just For You.
Many new songs composed by its leader, Rukshan Karunanayake will be sung.
The night will also feature legendary stars of 70s, Indrani Perera, Anil Bhareti, Nihal Nelson, Vernon Perera, Shyami Fonseka, Rukshan Perera (Super Golden Chimes). Sri Kanth Dassanayake will add glamour to the concert as the guest artists. The compere for the evening will be Dr. Vijaya Corea.
A special feature at the event will be the performances of the eight-year-old drummer, Udesha Karunanayake.

LIFT 10th anniversary celebrations

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (Pvt) Ltd. has organised a grand fashion show followed by an after party integrating design, fashion, music, dance and the professionals of the fashion industry.
There will be over 30 designers showing their collections, which would be modeled by, top Indian and Sri Lankan models including Miss India Universe 2008 - Simran Kayur, Miss Sri Lanka Universe 2008 - Aruni Rajapakshe, Miss India Athlete 2005 - Gwen Athaide, Miss Sri Lanka World 2006 - Dannielle Kerkoven.
Based on the theme, Sri Lankan Pride the diploma students will present collections on concepts unique to Sri Lanka such as the national bird, national flower, stone carvings, masks, Sri Lankan motives, Kandyan dancers, unique birds such as the Blue Magpie.
The Advanced Diploma students will present unique individual themes: Collections inspired by the pain behind a ballerina’s smile, Waris Dirie- the desert flower, fur or faux - protecting animals, ink blot elicitations, gothic architecture, emotions and colour, the flourishing art of orchids etc.
There will also be a fashion accessory design collection of shoes and hand bags bringing a message of not to use fur or leather but alternatives such as rexine and fabrics to say no to animal skin.

Sixth Charter Night celebration

It was a very successful and well attended event, held at Indian Spice, Marine Drive, Colombo 4, with the participation of the District Governor, Vice District Governor, and Cabinet Officers of the district 306A2 Lions, Lion Ladies as well as their guests.
The pinnacle of the event was a slide show depicting all the projects done by the club under the presidency of Lion Dr Zurfick.
This challenging charter night was single handedly organised by the president of the club Lion Dr M.G.M.S. Zurfick in spite of severe obstacles.

The Battle of Algiers
