Nallur Kandasamy Festival

More than 500,000 people are expected to take part at this year’s Nallur Kandasamy festival that begins today.
The festival will be held for the second time after the end of the war.
Northern Province Governor, G.A. Chandrasiri said that this year’s festival would see the largest number of participants.
He added that the amount could increase up to 700,000 during the end of the festival during the first week of September.
“We expect the numbers to be high this time because there will be members of the diaspora from around the world who will be attending the festival. All the necessary arrangements have been made to accommodate these people,” he said. (AW)
