The Naval intelligence team attached to SLNS Vijaya Kalpitiya in the North Western Naval area, on information received, recovered a haul of conch shells on August 25, 2010.
The haul consists of about 500 conch shells safely packed in sacks and hidden inside scrubs in the Sinnagunduwa area of the Baththalangunduwa island in Kalpitiya lagoon. The recovered items were handed over to the assistant Director of Fisheries (Puttalam) for further investigations.
