Bodhi’s death delivers body blow to Sajith

The Sajith group in the UNP has suffered a telling blow with the sudden death of party’s Working Committee member Bodhi Ranasinghe, party sources said.
Ranasinghe, a one time confidante of party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe later switched his loyalty to Sajith Premadasa when the latter emerged as the leader of the rebel group that began an agitation for reforms in the party.
Ranasinghe, considered the live wire behind the logistics of the rebel group, was responsible for coordinating the activity of the group and often liaised with the representatives of the Ranil group in the party. Ranasinghe’s residence served as the venue for discussions of the rebel group on many occasions.
. Ranasinghe died on Wednesday evening and his body was donated to the Medical Faculty of the Colombo University in deference to his express wishes.
