Dismissed Policeman caught with heroin

A dismissed Policeman was caught recently with 1,100 milligrammes of heroin by the OIC Crimes of Galle Police on a tip off.
Inspector Rohan Wickremasekere picked up the suspect while he was walking near Beligaha Junction in Galle.
The Policeman had been sacked from the force last year after he was found guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs.3,500 from a teacher couple, while serving in the Galle Anti-Crime and Corruption Unit.
The suspect (35) is a resident of Kapuhempala Galle. He had served in the Police force for 12 years and been a resident of Galle for the past six years. The suspect was produced before Galle Chief Magistrate Chamara Tennekoon who remanded him until March 4. (NS)
