LLRC final report on May 15

The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) will be dissolved after the commission hands over its final report to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on May 15.
The commission, following the completion of its task of gathering evidence from the public regarding the war situation will lose its mandate after this date, LLRC media consultant Lakshman Wickramasinghe said.
Wickramasinghe said the commission is making all attempts to complete the final report by May 15 and after this date; it is up to the relevant state authorities to do what is necessary.
“Though the commission will not exist after officially handing over the final report to the head of state, the work of the commission will follow. The relevant institutions and authorities will have to take up the findings of the commission and do what is required according to the law,” he said. (WG)
