ASTROLOGY

New Year to herald a new world order marked by greater fellow feeling

By Sudarshi
A rare coincidence of two celestial events due to occur with the dawn of the upcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year raises the frightening prospect of a series of natural calamities such as earthquakes and tsunamis in the year ahead.
The Sun’s ingress into the Zodiac sign of Aries at 01.01 pm on April 14 when the Full Moon is due to transit in the Cancer sign which happens to be the 4th Bhava (House) of Vishwa Kundali or the World Map of Heavens will bring about this coincidence of great astrological significance.
Experts in Mundane Astrology associate the 4th Bhava in the natal chart of a country or the chart of the world with natural calamities and the lunation due to fall in the cusp between the Cancer and Leo signs signifies earthquakes in the year ahead.
Both the New Moon and the Full Moon exerts a considerable influence on world affairs, according to Mundane Astrology.

Saturn opposition to Neptune
Another planetary position in the Vishwa Kunadali that raises grim prospects for the world is Saturn in opposition to Neptune who moved over to Pisces on April 4. Judging by the results caused by Saturn opposition Neptune in the past, a bad period is ahead for monarchies and dictatorships in the world.
The presence of Neptune and Mars in Pisces receiving the evil direct aspect of Saturn continues to foreshadow political turmoil in Saharan and sub-Saharan nations.

A new awakening among mankind

Astrologers the world over attach much significance to the entry of Neptune to the sign of Pisces on April 4, the eve of the Astrological New Year. They say with information gathered in hindsight, that Neptune’s entry into his own House marks a new awakening among the mankind which leads to an awareness among peoples the world over that they are an integral part of the world and of the greater universe. This awareness which they describe as a paradigm shift in human consciousness will gradually lead to a breakdown of barriers that separate them.

Struggle between the righteous and evil forces
However, Lagna (Ascendant) of Sri Lanka’s natal chart being Aquarius, the lunation is to fall in the 6th House of Cancer. As for Sri Lanka the Full Moon transiting in the 6th house of Cancer while receiving the special benign aspect of Jupiter will usher in a favourable period for the working class and the armed forces in the country. This occurrence also signifies a marked improvement in the general health of the nation.
The planetary position that should cause much anxiety to people of this country is the four-planet combination in Pisces, the 2nd House in Sri Lanka’s natal chart which foreshadows a bitter struggle between the righteous and the evil forces. Times ahead are to be marked by enormous expenditures, wastes of public money, unexpected losses and also unexpected gains. Saturn’s aspect over the 2nd House will certainly cause uneasiness in financial circles.

Gains from trade and commerce
However, there are strong indications that there will be marked gains from trade and commerce.
A boost to country’s image
The 10th House of Sri Lanka’s natal chart is receiving the special aspect of both Saturn and Jupiter. The Jupiter’s aspect over this House signifies a boost to the image and prestige of the President, government and the nation among the international community. However, the affliction by Saturn points to possible scandals and allegations that could cause damage to the image of the government and lower its esteem abroad.

Corruption in public establishments
Pluto in the 12th House signifies corruption in public establishments and prominent officials falling into disgrace. The presence of Rahu in the 11th House foreshadows plots and conspiracies against the establishment.
Mars’ aspect over the 9th House is too unfavourable in that people could lose faith in the judiciary and it is the responsibility of both the government and the opposition to take measures to strengthen the people’s faith in the law courts which is sine qua non for the continuity of the democratic system.

Hand tells tales, but does not lie

Lines on the hand in general

By A.S.Fernando
We have already discussed the Mounts on the hand and the markings on them. While explaining the location and significance of the Mounts and markings, we had occasion to make an occasional reference to the main lines in particular on the palm on the assumption the reader has a rudimentary knowledge of such lines.
Now let us discuss the lines on the hand in general as an introduction to a comprehensive discussion of each line separately.
Some skeptics say that the lines on the palm are mere creases formed due to the constant folding of the hand. But a careful inspection of the palm would give the lie to this contention.
A marvelous masterpiece of nature, the hand is a versatile servant of the brain. It serves a dual purpose – doing the bidding of the brain in a physical sense and representing the flow and ebb of the life force through its map featuring lines, mounts and markings.
The brain, tool of one’s Karmic force registers its messages in the form of lines and signs on the palm. Sages of ancient India aided by the vast knowledge divined or acquired through research have interpreted these mysterious messages and thus a body of occult science called Palmistry had come into being.
The slightest happening in our life is imprinted on our palm and the thinnest line on it has its own significance, says well known Indian Palmist Narayan Dutt Shrimali.
There are seven main lines and about 12 complementary lines on the palm.
An experimental study of a number of hands would show there are hands with lines approximating those shown in the diagram. Yet there is a variation in the positions of such lines while in some cases, certain lines are entirely absent, and in others some lines are marked with defects.
In fact, no two hands are alike, not even one’s two hands. This account for the adage, “many men, many minds,” says leading palmist Psycho. The clear, deep and long lines on a palm signify success. The broken, thin lines represent handicaps in life. However, even the transient lines on the hand carry some significance which cannot be ignored.
The seven main lines are:
1. Life line
2. Head line
3. Heart line
4. Line of the Sun or Apollo
5. Line of fate
6. Health line
7. Marriage or love line
Secondary or complementary lines are:
1. Ring of Jupiter
2. Line of Mars
3. Ring of Saturn
4. Ring of Apollo
5. Ring or Girdle of Venus
6. Ring of Moon or Luna
7. Line of brilliance
8. Journey lines
9. Children lines
10. Bracelets or Rascette
11. Casual lines
12. High post lines
