Mason nabbed with forged seals

By Neminda Samarajeeva
A mason found in possession of a number of unauthorized rubber seals of various institutes, for the purpose of forging character certificates, was taken into custody Friday 18.
He was produced before the Baddegama Magistrate Kesara Samaradiwakara on Saturday 19 and later on Monday 21. He pleaded guilty.
The following seals were confiscated from him; five seals similar to those used in a private garment factory, one similar to that used by a principal of a leading school in Hikkaduwa and one similar to that used by the OIC Thelikada police. The suspect Indrajith Indunil Opatha (28) of Mawadawila Rathgama when questioned told the police that the seals belonged to a soldier who had given it to him six months ago before the soldier died.
