No surrender like Sajith, insists Madduma Bandara

Q: You are one person who openly defied your leader and despite him calling on the voters of Moneragala not to vote for you yet managed to win your seat. Will you be able to repeat that performance with the party’s National Organiser post?
A large number of our MPs and working committee members asked me to contest this post and I came forward on their request. I believe I have all the qualifications to hold that post. I will say clearly and definitely, if I cannot get this by consensus... Full Interview

Q: In addition to Ranjith Madduma Bandara’s name being proposed and seconded for the post of National Organiser at the working committee meeting, he has publicly declared that he is ready to face a contest in the event it cannot be given to him by consensus, but Ravi Karunanayake has not staked any such claim for the post in public.  For the post of National Organiser the name of Ranjith Madduma Bandara has been proposed by Imtiaz Bakeer Markar. In the meantime, Ravi Karunanayake too has informed the party Leader that he hoped to be the National Organiser. Full Interview


No action, talk only, says Suresh
The UPFA government and the TNA are now put to face each other and both teams are engrossed in talks to find a solution to the day to day problems faced by the Tamils of North-East. Already four rounds of talks have been held between these parties. However on April 29 the all important talks will commence and that will be on the political solution to the ethnic crisis. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has already promised to offer the Tamils what he himself has described as ‘13th amendment plus’ while India, Sri Lanka’s giant neighbour has suggested a ‘13th amendment plus plus’. The contentious issue however seems to be in devolving police powers to the periphery.  Full Interview
