Villa experience in the South

By Wasantha Siriwardena
Marketing Villas Ltd. announced the launch of its first three villas in Sri Lanka. It is a joint venture between the Elite Havens Group and Singapore based Private Homes & Villas Pte Ltd.
The three properties to be managed by this Hong Kong-based group are Ambassador’s House in Galle, Pooja Kanda in Koggala and Ocean’s Edge in Tangalle.

Jon Stonham, Chief Executive Officer of Marketing Villas Ltd, at the launch held at the Park Street Hotel in Colombo, said: “We are excited to launch our first three villas in Sri Lanka. As today’s tourism demands are changing rapidly, and travellers are moving away from holidaying in hotel rooms, what they want is a private and exclusive experience suited to their specific needs.”
“The company essentially provides every guest with a completely private space to be enjoyed at their own pace,” he added.

Stonham described how the villa market was gradually expanding across Asia.
“The villa experience is entirely different from typical ‘hotel’ experience and it is fast becoming popular. Privacy and tailored services are becoming considerably more important to holiday makers. Bali is a model example of a destination that has enjoyed success as a leading villa destination. Five years ago there was no villa market in Bali, following a dramatic change, there are over 1,000 villas operating in Bali today.”
The three new villas are located in key destinations in theSouth.

Ambassador’s House in Galle
Tucked within Galle’s historic seventeenth century fortress on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, Ambassador’s House is a magnificently proportioned five-bedroom property bursting with colonial charm. Once the residence of the Bangladeshi Ambassador, this majestic house boasts an abundance of living space, including a spacious roof terrace and a cavernous lounge, which make it an exceptional place for entertaining.
The house is fully-staffed and comes with an elongated plunge pool, wireless internet and a satellite-enabled TV and DVD player.

Pooja Kanda in Koggala
Situated on a flourishing hillock bathed in rich vegetation, Pooja Kanda is a quiet five bed room hideaway that’s five minutes inland from the Koggala beach. This Dutch colonial style villa was unmistakably designed for relaxation and its tranquillity is further enhanced by a garden bursting with birdsong and enlivened by visits from inquisitive monkeys high up in the trees.
This fully-staffed house comes with a turquoise swimming pool with lounging ledge, a wireless internet, a TV room and a fully-equipped kitchen.

Ocean’s Edge in Tangalle
Sensationally situated on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, Ocean’s Edge, priced at US$ 350 per day offers a true taste of exotic seclusion. With four spacious bedrooms boasting spectacular views, this colonially-inspired villa also features comfortably furnished wraparound verandas; a fully-equipped kitchen and an air conditioned TV Room.
In the extensive, tropical, bird-filled garden beyond sits a gorgeous swimming pool that’s the perfect place to cool off in the heat of the day, whilst opportunities for exploratory walks along the near-deserted beach are endless. Fully-staffed, Ocean’s Edge is beautifully private and perfectly suited for families, groups and nature lovers looking to completely relax and unwind.

The Paradise on a hill side

“There are five bedrooms – including a suite on the top floor – all with unique interiors and stylishly designed modern bathrooms with hot water facilities. The suite is the most spacious and has a king sized bed has the best views of the garden, mountains and the city below.”
The bungalow can accommodate up to 12 guests at a time. Only three and half kilometres from the city, this beautiful villa perched atop a mountain goes at a very competitive rate per day.
The villa also consists of two spacious and comfortable sitting rooms, a dining area which seats 12 people and open TV room where you can watch satellite TV.

“Our kitchen is well capable of handling any type of meals to delight your taste buds.
The three member team at the Paradise Villa provides the best service, are ready to prepare best of Western and Sri Lankan dishes on request.
We offer mountain biking, jungle trekking and barbeque facilities at a nearby place overlooking Hantana Mountains on request.

“We started this project in April this year, and hoping to expand our services with more facilities for the guests. There are two more villas opened up for guests two weeks ago in Halbarawa and in Kurunegala,” Sanjeewa concluded.
Situated in the Richmond Hill Estate, off Heerassagala Road about 2km from the main Kandy-Colombo Road, is an ideal location from which to explore Kandy’s ancient heritage, and yet be removed from the hustle and bustle of the town. (WS)
