|Military to nab 40,000
Military Police are on the
lookout to nab around 40,000 deserters who fled the
services during the height of the war against the
LTTE, Military sources said.
During an intense search operation launched during
the last one year over 8,000 military personnel
including 32 officers who deserted the service were
arrested, sources further said.
The arrested personnel would be dealt according to
military law. The deserters were earlier given a
number of opportunities to surrender at military
camps and thousands availed themselves of the
opportunity and were honorably discharged, sources
