Youth commits suicide
By Neminda Samarajeewa
A youth employed at a jewellery store in Avissawella had committed suicide by consuming a chemical used to clean jewellery.
The mother of the youth had been sternly advising him about his alcohol addiction and she had been objecting to a love affair of the deceasedís brother when he had consumed this chemical.
After admitting him to the emergency treatment unit of the Ragama hospital he had passed away on July 26.
The judicial medical officer of the Ragama hospital had stated that large amounts of the chemical had severely damaged the deceasedís intestines. He had also transferred the deceasedís organs to the Government Analyst for further examinations. Inquirer into sudden deaths had instructed not to cremate the body.
