Its possible, President tells CMC candidates

We have done the impossible and winning the Colombo Municipality would be the same, President Mahinda Rajapaksa told the 59 UPFA candidates contesting the Colombo Municipality, summoned for a meeting at Temple Trees on Friday.
He urged the candidates to strive hard to transform Colombo into a wonder city in Asia.
He recalled how his government ultimately found a solution to the citys garbage problem, an issue at which all previous governments had failed.
He dismissed rumours that shanty dwellers in the city would be shifted to outstations. Instead they would be provided flats in the city itself, President Rajapaksa said. He cited instances in the recent past where shanty dwellers in the city were shifted to flats and also the displaced pavement hawkers were provided better alternatives.
The President urged the candidates to maintain the cleanliness of the city during the campaign period.
According to a release issued by the Presidential media unit, Rajapaksa requested the candidates to engage in house-to-house campaign and avoid accusing each other during that period.
