Political party leaders and supporters of the common opposition held a protest in front of the Elections Secretariat in Rajagiriya this morning (18) against the persistent incidents of election violence and election law violations that are allegedly being carried out by the government. The protesters demanded that the Elections Commissioner exercise his duties fairly and prevent what they called the blatant abuse of state resources and violations of election law that were taking place. The protesters also handed over a letter of complaint detailing their grievances to officials from the Department of Elections. Read more
