CEB employees to go for a picket

Employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) plans a picket campaign tomorrow (Tuesday, January 19) morning in front of the CEB Head Office, Colombo. Trade Unionist Ranjan Jayalal claimed that just a day before the Presidential Election, a section of employees has got salary increase and that cannot be accepted.

He said that the employees have an agreement with the management to receive salary increase every three years. “According to that, we are to receive our increases this January, as we last time got the salary increase in 2012. In such a situation, how only a section of employees get a salary increase? Jayalal questioned.

He also added that their effort to meet the new subject minister this evening failed and decided to go for a picket campaign tomorrow.
