Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) General Secretary and Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe must take the responsibility for the controversial sale of Central Bank Bonds as long as Arjuna Mahendran holds the post of CB Governor.

Minister Ranawaka said that the Anti-Corruption Committee headed by the Prime Minister was biased when it came to several incidents including the Bond sales, the floating armoury, Avant Garde and RADA.

He further said he as well as Minister Rajitha Senarathne opposed the CBSL Governor’s appointment. But, the PM wanted him (Mahendran) in the seat.  “He also promised to handle the issue alone”.

Minister said that Prime Minister’s behavior was not acceptable when drafting the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, but however he had changed that authoritarian style when drafting the 20th.
