Kothmale Holiday Resort, Riverside, Mawathura, Gampola, which was managed by the Ceylon Hotels Corporation, has been taken over by versatile and well experienced hotelier Nandana Rajapakse with a soft opening which took place recently.

Nandana has appointed another versatile hotelier, Ramalee Adjumain ,as the Consultant to the hotel project. Adjumain counts over 30 years experience here and abroad and his appointment as the Consultant to the hotel project will undoubtedly make Kothmale Holiday Resort a star class property, Chairman KHR, Nandana Rajapakse said.

Surrounded by mountains with forest- covered slopes and lower tea plantation, and paddy fields, with the soothing sounds of the singing birds, Kotmale Holiday Resort is a base to explore a host of tourist attractions, the main attraction being the Kothmale Dam which is only around four kilometres from the hotel. The resort which has 60 rooms built in 8 cottages will in the near future consist of 90 rooms including 5 deluxe rooms, one family room and one ‘White Room’ (Honeymooners Room). The resort has a large swimming pool with two kiddies’ pools which is said to be rare in a resort in the hill country. The restaurant at the resort serves nothing but the best in Eastern, Western, International and Sri Lankan cuisine prepared by expert chefs.

All cottages are equipped with all facilities required for the discerning traveller. The resort is an ideal spot for company picnics, seminars, workshops, banquet functions and large scale weddings for which all modern facilities are offered by the resort, Chairman Nandana Rajapakse said. He said that special and attractive packages are offered to Sri Lankans and expatriates to spend a memorable holiday in a cool but moderate climate. In addition to the 30 extra deluxe rooms, a Court Yard to will be constructed, Nandana said.

A three and a half hour drive from Colombo along the Colombo Avissawella, Ginigathena, Nawalapitiya road the Kotmale Reservoir and Dam provide a breathtaking site seeing to tourist visiting the Kotmale Holiday Resort. The resort is ideal for relaxed family stay in salubrious climes and idyllic surroundings and a host of recreational and sightseeing facilities, with the overall plus factor of reasonable prices says Chairman Nandana Rajapakse.
