An extremely enthusiastic group of Rotaractors from the Moratuwa University Rotaract Club has initiated a community service project ‘Hand in Hand’ in aid of the National Cancer Hospital, Maharagama. Hand in Hand focuses on lending a helping hand to the patients at the cancer hospital and also to inspire and encourage the general public to contribute at their level best for the betterment of these cancer patients.

As responsible youth of the country, the Rotaractors saw it as a worthy cause to address the issues of the cancer patients with the sole intention of making their lives much more comfortable and content. As the number of patients falling before cancer is rising day by day, the Rotaractors consider it their duty to provide hope to these patients and invest their time, effort and strength on behalf of them.

Initiating the project, a painting session was held at the Kids Play Area of National Cancer Hospital, Maharagama on February 3 in which a group of Rotaractors spent the morning hours with the kids painting pictures and having a pleasant and memorable time. Through this simple endeavor, they managed to bring smiles to these courageous young kids of age four to 14 years.

The Rotaractors printed Vesak cards with these paintings and through sales to raise funds, so that the hospital can be aided in monetary terms. Moreover, the Rotaractors wish to assist them in buying expensive drugs and vaccinations to fight against cancer.
