The Supreme Court determined that expulsion of former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka from his party membership was invalid as the due process was not followed.

MP Attanayka changed his camp just few days before the last Presidential Election and supported the UPFA candidate then President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The election was won by the candidate who supported by the United National Party and later the party had cancelled his party membership.

MP Attanayaka appeared before the courts on March 06 and the Supreme Court today determined that the UNP’s decision is invalid and the party had not followed due process.
