The Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) alleges that State security agencies have recommenced intimidation tactics targeting student activists. This is being done by sending officers in the dreaded ‘white vans’ to the houses of students, IUSF Convener Najith Indika claimed.

Addressing a media briefing on Thursday, the IUSF convener claimed people were visiting the homes of student activists and speaking to their parents stating they were collecting ‘information’ as part of a scholarship program for university students.
“During the Rajapaksa era, it got to a point where intelligence agencies were visiting 10-15 homes of student activists every week. This government came to power, promising to end such practices, but it didn’t take even three months before it started again,” Indika charged.
