Non-payment of Rs.140 million to SLTB

The Ministry of Internal Transport is to lodge a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding the non-payment of Rs.140 million it claims is owed to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) by the election campaign of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Speaking to The Nation, Minister of Internal Transport, Ranjith Madduma said a complaint is to be lodged with the CID in the next few days, regarding the non-payment of funds owed to the SLTB.

The minister scoffed at claims recently made by  the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and  United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary, Susil Premajayantha that they were not aware of the usage of SLTB buses for the election campaign.

“They’re trying to dodge paying the funds by making ridiculous claims. We have the necessary documents to prove involvement,” he alleged.
