Colombo again saw its fair share of protests last week. On Thursday, a protest was held opposite the Fort Railway Station by several trade unions on the alleged assault of former Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) President Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri on May Day. Meanwhile, a coalition of trade unions in the Health Sector held protests at several hospitals island-wide, including opposite the Colombo National Hospital on Friday over several unmet demands.
