Liyanage appointed High Commissioner to Nigeria

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed A.S.P Liyanage to the post of High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in the Republic of Nigeria. An old boy of Nalanda College Colombo, Liyanage is also the leader of the Sri Lanka Labor Party and its General Secretary. A presidential candidate in the last election and Liyanage polled 3rd highest number of preferential votes in Colombo.

Liyanage began his carrier as a schoolteacher and has published many books of relevance to students. Renowned as a successful entrepreneur he has contributed immensely to the uplifting of Arts too. He represented Sri Lanka at various seminars including those in the United Kingdom, Australia, USA, Japan and Switzerland and also at several conferences at United Nations headquarters in Geneva as a delegate.
