Inter-school under 19 cricket

S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia warmed up ahead of this week’s Big Match with a tremendous batting performance in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against St. Sebastian’s College which ended in a draw at Moratuwa yesterday. The Thomians who were skittle out for a mere 75 runs in the first innings made amends in their second attempt with a determined performance as they batted the entire second day to score a respectable 256 for 8 from 104 overs.

Meanwhile St. Benedict’s College powered their way to a rousing ten wicket outright victory over Wesley College in their inter school under 19 cricket encounter which concluded at Kotahena yesterday. Richmond College Galle fell short by just one wicket from pulling off their tenth outright victory for the season as their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Dharmapala MV Pannipitiya ended in a draw at Balapitiya yesterday.

Dharmapala MV after taking a good first innings lead were struggling at 129 for 9 in their second innings after they were set a victory target of 210 runs.
DS Senanayake College piled up a formidable 263 for 9 in their first innings on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket encounter against St. Aloysius College Galle played for the R. I. T. Alles Trophy at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.

St. Anthony’s College, Kandy look set for the kill and can forward to their first win of the season at the end of the first day’s play in their inter school cricket match against Kingswood College which began at Katugastota yesterday. The Antonians having declared their innings closed at 251 for 9 declared are having the Kingswoodians on their knees with the scoreboard reading 57 for 5 at stumps. They have to score another 94 runs to avert the follow on for which their tails should wag.
