Sangakkara cynosure of all eyes at Matara

Former captain Kumar Sangakkara will be the cynosure of all eyes when he represents an Emerging XI in Bangladesh’s opening three-day fixture starting at the Matara Uyanwatte Stadium today.Sangakkara was a late inclusion into the 16-member squad from which the final eleven will be picked to play the tourists in their only warm-up game before the two Test series starts at Galle on Friday. This will be Sangakkara’s first game since his left index finger was fractured by Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson during the Boxing Day at Melbourne in December. The Emerging XI comprising of talented youngsters will be led by NCC middle order bat Angelo Perera.

Emerging XI (from): Angelo Perera (captain), Kithruwan Withanage (vice-captain), Kumar Sangakkara, Ashen Silva, Shehan Jayasuriya, Niroshan Dickwella (w/k), Udara Jayasundara, Ashan Priyanjana, Ishan Jayaratne, Dushmantha Sameera, Kasun Madushanka, Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Gamage, Ramith Rambukwella, Dulanjana Mendis, Chathuranga de Silva.Youth Affairs Minister Dallas Alahapperuma will be the chief guest.
