Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has enlisted the services of former fast bowler and coach Rumesh Ratnayake to prepare the team for the forthcoming World Cup in Australia-New Zealand.

His stint will be for just two weeks starting on February 4. He will work jointly with Chaminda Vaas, the head bowling coach.

"SLC has made the inclusion (of Ratnayake) taking into consideration the views of the Chairman of Selectors and the National team Management. All other support staff personnel will remain intact with the squad", SLC said in a statement.

Sri Lankan administrators and think-tanks pressed the panic button to enlist an additional fast bowling coach following a spate of miserable performances by the team in the current seven-match ODI series against New Zealand.

The seventh and final match will be played on Thursday (January 29) with New Zealand leading the series 4-1 after a game was washed out.

The World Cup starts on February 14 with Sri Lanka taking on New Zealand.
