The Chartered Institute of
Logistics and Transport (CILT)
held its AGM on March 30, 2015
at the Kingsbury Hotel. Niral
Kadawathararachchi was reelect-
ed as the Chairman for the second
term. The three Vice Chairpersons
Ms Gayani de Alwis, Ms Namalie
Siyambalapitiya and Capt Lasitha
Cumaratunga and the Treasurer
Ravi Edirisinghe too were reelect-
ed. Nujith Samarwickrema was
elected as the new Secretary.
The key feature of the newly-
elected council is the presence
of six women members for the
CILT Council for 2015 for the
first time. The CILT is actively
promoting gender diversity in the
industry through their women’s
forum Women in Logistics and
Transport (WiLAT). The inclusion
of women in the Council, show
their commitment towards this
endeavor.
Chairman Niral in his AGM ad-
dress spoke about various activi-
ties that CILT conducted in the
past year, the most notable being
the highly successful Internation-
al conference which was well ac-
cepted and had a record participa-
tion. He also thanked the outgoing
council for their support rendered
in the past year. Niral especial-
ly commended the work of the
WiLAT and Young Professionals
Forum (
YPF
) which is considered
as the livewires of the CILT.
