National People’s Power (NPP) candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been officially declared the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka.
The Election Commission (EC) confirmed his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election today (22).
According to the EC, Dissanayake secured 42.31% of the vote in yesterday’s election, surpassing Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, who came second, and President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who placed a distant third.
Although unconfirmed, reports indicate that the President elect is expected to be sworn in tomorrow (23).
Official confirmation is yet to be provided on iternary of the ceremony.
