A banned BMW driver has been arrested after being spotted by police using the licence plate of a different vehicle to disguise his car's identity.
Police Interceptors from Sprucefield spotted the BMW in the Magherafelt area on Friday, March 28, and used "preemptive tactics" to stop the vehicle in order to avoid a possible pursuit.
The car was found to be using the registration plate of another similar vehicle in order to hide its identity, with the car having an off-road order in place on it along with not being insured.

The driver, who had been recently stopped by police, was found to be currently banned from driving and gave officers false details. He is now due to appear in court following the incident.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "This BMW was stopped yesterday in the Magherafelt area by Sprucefield Interceptors using preemptive tactics in order to prevent the likelihood of a pursuit.
"The vehicle was displaying the registration number of a similar vehicle in order to disguise its true identity, the driver who was recently stopped by local police and gave false details is currently serving a period of disqualification. Checks show that the vehicle had no insurance and was currently sorn'd.
"The male driver will now appear in court in the near future and can explain their actions to the Judge."
