A man is in a critical condition after a boat capsized in Queensland on Wednesday. 

The accident happened in waters about 100metres offshore from Cleveland, 29km south-east of Brisbane CBD. 

Two other people - a teenage girl and a man in his 40s - were treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman told Daily Mail Australia. 

All three people were brought to shore and a helicopter is involved in the search for the stricken boat.

The two injured people were subsequently taken to the nearby Redland Hospital. 

The group was reportedly stranded in the water for hours as the accident happened at around 9am, but the alarm was not raised until hours later. 

The authorities responded to the incident at around 11.40am.
