POCATELLO — A man who recently completed a rider after pleading guilty to enticing a child over the internet has been charged with a new felony for failure to register as a sex offender.
Yianne Christos Paloukos, 26, was originally charged with a felony in 2021 and, after reaching a plea deal with the Bannock County Prosecutor’s Office, was sentenced to a rider with an underlying sentence of five to 15 years in prison.
As part of his probationary release, Paloukos was required to register as a sex offender. He failed to do so and has been charged with a felony, court records show. He has also been charged with a probation violation, meaning the initial case has been reopened.
Court records pertaining to the initial charge have been sealed.
What is known through charge documents is, in March 2021, Paloukos knowingly solicited, enticed or persuaded a 14-year-old to commit sexual acts using the internet.
Due to the probation violation, Paloukos could be ordered to serve the full original prison sentence of five to 15 years. He could face an additional prison sentence of up to 10 years for failure to register as a sex offender.
He is currently being held at the Bannock County Jail on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge Aaron Thompson on Oct. 25.
