Cement prices in Sri Lanka have increased, with manufacturing companies raising prices in response to higher production costs.

According to industry sources, cement prices have risen by between Rs. 150 and Rs. 175 per bag.

The price hike has been attributed to escalating production expenses, including raw material and operational costs.

Meanwhile, the construction sector is facing broader cost pressures. The President of the Sri Lanka National Construction Association, Darrington Paul, stated that the prices of key construction materials such as sand, gravel, and steel have also increased significantly.

The rising costs across multiple materials are expected to place additional strain on the construction industry, potentially impacting ongoing and future projects.
