COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa instructed officials to formulate a system to compensate public servants who are receiving treatment at home due to COVID-19 from the Agrahara Insurance Scheme.
Previously, the 2021 Budget Proposals introduced a system of compensation for the death of public servants due to COVID-19 infection and hospitalization.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Unit stated that trade union representatives also briefed the Prime Minister on the need to make the public service more efficient.
The trade union representatives informed the Prime Minister about certain irregularities in the procurement process of the Railway Department as well, to which the Prime Minister responded stating that he will look into the relevant irregularities.
