Cunningham Lane: Live updates as motorists urged to avoid road in Co Tyrone due to fire incident

Several people have been taken to hospital tonight following a serious fire at a residential property.

The incident took place in the Cunninghams Lane area of Dungannon, Co Tyrone. Footage on social media showed a fire taking hold in the hallway of the property while upstairs lights were on and people could be seen moving about.

Initial reports from the scene suggest children may be among the injured as well as officers from the PSNI who were first to arrive at the fire. One young girl could be seen sitting on grass in bedclothes are being taken from the house and given treatment.

In a tweet Mid Ulster PSNI said: "Road users are advised Cunninghams Lane in Dungannon is currently closed due to an ongoing fire. Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes for your journey."

UUP MLA Diana Armstrong said: “Concerning news out of Dungannon this evening.

“I'm aware of a serious incident ongoing on Cunninghams Lane with PSNI and NI Fire Service on Site. I'm liaising with PSNI to ascertain the current situation.”

The SDLP's Malachy Quinn added: “Concerning news and images coming from Dungannon. Police are at the scene along with the Fire Service, people should avoid the area if they can.”
