Every week I’m interviewing exciting people from Idaho and around the world!
Dana Tanamachi’s art has been featured all over the world, including the covers of “O Magazine”, “TIME” and on a US postal stamp. In 2022, she hand-painted a three-story mural at Starbucks inside the Empire State Building, and she’s credited with more than 500 hand-lettered gold ink illustrations for the ESV Illuminated Bible.
Dana has worked with Target, Nike, Google and other companies. She is known as the “Chalk Queen” for her creative chalk art and was a keynote speaker at RootsTech this month. That’s where I sat down to ask her 7 Questions. Here’s what I asked her:
When did you know that you wanted to be an artist? How do you come up with your unique ideas? You are known as the Chalk Queen. How does it feel to know you created a cool movement? What is the longest time you have spent on a project? Have you ever been to Idaho and what’s your favorite way to have a potato? What have you learned about your family history at RootsTech? Can you share a piece of advice with me?Watch my interview with Dana in the video player above and see her incredible artwork here.
