Scenic Highway closed between Mountain Cutoff Road and Hickory Hammock Road

LAKE WALES, Fla. – One person is dead and a portion of Scenic Highway is closed following a two-vehicle crash in Polk County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the crash happened on Scenic Highway near Egg Farm Road in Lake Walkes.

Investigators said Scenic Highway is now closed between Mountain Cutoff Road and Hickory Hammock Road. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area as the road is expected to be closed for several hours.

Deputies did not say what caused the crash. They also did not release the identity of the person who died in the wreck.
