1 month ago 177

Eamonn Holmes was noticeably absent from his regular presenting slot on GB News on Tuesday morning, with Ben Leo filling in for him, co-hosting alongside Ellie Costello. Eamonn typically presents every week from Monday to Wednesday.

His absence follows his remarks on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's intimate display at the Invictus Games. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the opening ceremony in Vancouver. During the first event of the games, they were seen sharing a kiss and holding hands.

Responding to their appearance on GB News, Breakfast host Eamonn Holmes criticised the couple's "nonsense" displays of affection, accusing Meghan of putting on an "acted-out" performance, reports the Express.

He told the panel: "All this nonsense is in the papers today. If you just look at these pictures, all this is so acted out." The host then described Meghan's displays of affection, holding hands, embracing, and exuding devotion as something that felt "insincere".

"Oh, gosh," exclaimed Eamonn. When co-host Ellie Costello questioned him on whether he believed these gestures were genuine or merely an act, he firmly stated, "It's totally fake."

Commentator Dawn Neesom then offered her viewpoint during the discussion on GB News. She suggested that Meghan's behaviour seemed to be a response to recent comments made by Donald Trump, who implied that Prince Harry was facing challenges in his marriage.

Dawn elaborated on a recent event featuring the Sussexs, saying: "Both Harry and Meghan were present, and I have to say, I find it hard to disagree. Meghan was engaged in an unusually public display of affection, reminiscent of a couple on a romantic first date."

Eamonn offered his own perspective on the current public opinion towards Prince Harry and his latest actions, hinting that the Duke of Sussex might have been addressing the US President's comments through his recent speech advocating for disabled athletes.

He praised Harry for this commendable act, recognizing it as a meaningful contribution. Eamonn revealed his fondness for the Prince suggesting that the British people may be willing to adjust their views on him and potentially embrace him once more into the Royal Family.

Yet when it comes to his wife, Eamonn's outlook was more doubtful. He maintained that the scenario looked different for Meghan. He didn't hold back his thoughts, saying: "I like the lad, I think the country would recondition themselves back towards him. I think he'd be welcomed back eventually. But her? No, no, no."

In recent commentary, analyst Dawn highlighted Prince Harry's poignant speech at the Invictus Games' opening ceremony. She hinted that the Duke's words may have actually been conveyed a covert dig at Donald Trump, considering their past public disputes.

Prince Harry spoke to the gathered veterans, urging them to exemplify traits like "courage, values, and humanity," particularly in today's world filled with crises and uncertainty, where a lack of strong moral character appears more common.

Dawn pointed out that the context of Harry's speech and why it held additional weight, suggesting it might be an implicit criticism of the US President, especially in light of the contentious remarks he made about Meghan.

She further aired that Duke's remarks seem to reflect on wider issues of integrity and character in contemporary society, possibly alluding to the recent conduct.

Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie is on GB News every weekday from 6am to 9.30am. GB News is available on Freeview, YouView, Freesat, Sky, and Virgin Media.
