The two men died in a fiery plane wreck at the Lantana Airport Sunday night have been identified by authorities as Palm Beach County residents John Holland IV and Michael Marshall Jr.
Holland, 43, of Delray Beach, and Marshall, 34, of Boca Raton, were flying in a 2003 single-engine Diamond DA40 aircraft when they crashed about 9:30 p.m., and the plane was engulfed in flames. They departed from the Williston Municipal Airport near Gainesville two hours earlier.
Holland was expecting his first daughter, who will be born in a few weeks, according to an online fundraiser created by one of Holland’s relatives on GoFundMe.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, said Teri Barbera, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
