Sirens were heard throughout San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon as firefighters responded to a three-alarm blaze just before 4 p.m. at a building in the city's Lower Haight neighborhood.

The San Francisco Fire Department said flames were in a building in the 700 block of Haight Street. There are residences in the upper floors and commercial spaces on the bottom floor. 

The department said there were no injuries as of 4 p.m.

KCSB Radio reported at 4:45 p.m. that the fire appeared to be out. 

Officials are asking people to avoid the area.
