POCATELLO (KPVI) — A first ever Ukrainian festival is coming to Pocatello this weekend.

It will be Saturday, Nov. 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the gym at the Methodist church on the corner of 15th and Clark streets.

There will be traditional Ukrainian dances, songs, costumes, food, crafts, activities, raffles and more.

Due to space and the type of activities, organizer Lena Contor said it’s geared toward adults and would be difficult to bring children to.

Admission to the festival is free but money raised from selling items like food and raffles, along with donations, will go to buy tourniquets to send to those injured in the bombings and other devastation in the war in Ukraine.

Contor said this event is not only a fundraiser. She said she wanted to do this event as a thank you for the community who’s been so supportive of her efforts to help Ukraine in the past, and to showcase some of Ukraine’s culture.
